Located in via Nisida 24, in the Coroglio district, close to the former Italsider steel industry of Bagnoli and to the islet of Nisida, Lido Pola was a beachfront resort and historic restaurant of the city of Naples. It was active between the ‘60s and ‘90s, in the period of maximum industrialization of the Flegrean Area of Naples. After more than 10 years of abandonment, from May 17, 2013 Lido Pola has been involved in a process of re-appropriation led by the Bancarotta 2.0 collective, which had the aim of preventing its sale and privatization, in order to return it to citizenship through autonomous interventions of self-recovery. Such interventions have made possible to realize several social, cultural, political and artistic activities within the once abandoned Lido Pola.

This experience arose from the claims of a local community which demanded the environmental restoration of the former industrial areas, the decontamination of the sea and the beaches, the accessibility to the coastal areas and the involvement of the inhabitants in the process of urban redevelopment of the district.

The structure, originally owned by the State, was acquired by the patrimony of the Municipality of Naples and then recognized as one of the city’s Emerging Commons with the resolution no. 446/2016, and then indicated as “neighborhood equipment” by the urbanistic plan of Bagnoli.
What are the activities of Lido Pola?
The activities of Lido Pola are proposed and discussed in the collective meeting of PrendiSpazio every first Thursday of the month.
The Lido Pola is constantly interested by workshops and laboratories of self-construction and self-recovery, organized with the aim of making the space completely safe and accessible. Furthermore, these activities often extend to the cleaning and care of Cala Badessa, one of the few stretches of beach that has partially survived the speculation and pollution caused by the former steel industry of Bagnoli.

Lido Pola is one of the realities which animates the Carnevale Sociale di Napoli. The space is used to reunite and organize the parade in the Bagnoli district. The Lido Pola community is also one of the protagonists in the mobilizations for the reclamation and conversion of the former Italsider and, more generally, for the Flegrean Area.

The Lido Pola community has two main references: the Facebook and the Instagram pages of the center.
Finally, we also suggest you follow the Facebook page of the Bancarotta Bagnoli collective to be updated on the political and solidarity activities that are born at the Lido Pola and focus on the localities of Coroglio and Bagnoli.
